An officer conducting traffic enforcement at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday morning on Weaver Street stopped New Rochelle resident Emannuel Gonzalez, 25, after he was caught speeding and swerving.
Police said that Gonzalez told the officer that he had just dropped a friend off in White Plains.
The officer stated that Gonzalez had alcohol on his breath and “glassy, bloodshot, eyes.” When prompted, Gonzalez told the officer that he had not consumed alcohol that day.
Gonzalez proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety tests, was unsteady on his feet, and a breathalyzer found that he had a BAC of .12 percent.
He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, both misdemeanors. He was also cited for speeding and unsafely changing lanes.
Gonzalez was released and sent home in a taxi. He is due back in court on Wednesday to answer the charges.
